Senior Product Owner

Key Responsibilities

Deep Technical Documentation & Execution

• Write detailed, structured documentation for developers, including technical requirements, API specs, system flows, and integration guidelines.
• Break down complex stakeholder requirements into developer-friendly user stories that eliminate ambiguity.
• Work directly with architects and engineers to define data models, workflows, and backend interactions.

Collaboration with Development Teams

• Act as the technical bridge between business and engineering, ensuring dev teams have everything they need to execute efficiently.
• Work in agile sprints to ensure backlog items are clearly defined, estimated properly, and always ready for development.
• Actively join daily stand-ups, technical discussions, and code reviews (not as a decision-maker but to ensure accurate execution of the product vision).

API & Backend System Expertise

• Define RESTful API endpoints, specify data payloads, and document authentication & security requirements.
• Ensure API integrations follow performance, scalability, and security best practices.
• Work with engineers to map out micro services architecture, database structures, and event-driven interactions.

Technical Research & Hands-On Problem-Solving

• Research and define technical solutions without relying on others for explanations.
• Understand what developers do without Googling terms like “event sourcing” or “OAuth 2.0.”
• Assist in debugging technical issues when needed, ensuring smooth execution of planned features.

Candidate Requirements

Professional Experience

• 8+ years in a technical product ownership role, working directly with backend developers and system architects.
• Ex-developer or deep software engineering experience required.
• Hands-on experience with micro services, event-driven architectures, cloud-native systems, and API development.

Technical Mastery

• Fluent in API design, authentication methods (OAuth, JWT), and security best practices.
• Understands SQL and NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and data flow design.
• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.

Documentation & Research

• Writes structured, detailed, and technical documentation that engineers can follow without confusion.
• Deeply understands the tech stack and does not rely on Google for basic concepts.

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Location & Work Authorisation

This position is based onsite in Limassol, Cyprus, or Tallinn, Estonia.

• Non-EU/EEA candidates must already have full legal authorisation to work in Cyprus or Estonia at the time of application.
